About the seminar
Modern data and information systems are often distributed across multiple institutions, organisations, platforms, or locations. While centralising everything in one place may seem convenient, it is often impractical or undesirable due to storage limitations, bandwidth costs, data ownership, governance requirements, or privacy constraints.
This seminar focuses on federated systems for working across distributed sources. The programme brings together invited speakers discussing how learning, search, and analysis can be supported when data or information remains distributed rather than being fully centralised.
